Steering Wheel Dilemma

I'm having a dilemma regarding the steering wheel on my F500, and am hoping the collective wisdom of Apex can help.

My current wheel (Spa Technique/Alfa SW-024) is NLA. It's 255 mm and is flat on the bottom AND top. It is not open on the top. I love it. It fits my small car perfectly. The flat bottom keeps it away from the harness buckle, and the flat top keeps me compliant with the rule that says your hands cannot be above the front roll hoop.

The padding on the wheel has been disintegrating for a while and it's gotten so bad that I have to do something. I cannot find a direct replacement from a different manufacturer. My options seem limited to a 255 mm D-shaped wheel from Spa, which will not work because the top is not flat, or 250 mm D-shaped, open top wheels from MOMO or OMP, at around $250. I've thought about the open top wheel option, but find myself using the top of the wheel in turns, so there would at least be an adjustment in my driving style.

I've talked to one place in TX about refurbishing my current wheel. They quoted me approx $350 to repad and finish with suede.

So, does anyone know of any other options, or have any ideas? Does anyone have another recommendation for a place to refurb my existing wheel? Is $350 the going rate to refurb a racing steering wheel?

Thanks!

Cory
