Perfect.

Taken from late model VD, then sat for three plus years unused while waiting for a still-born FB project that was, well, still-born. So they're very new.

One unit was deflated and drained for motion ratio measurements, otherwise ready to go. Spring sets optional.

Except for the taking of these photos, these Alcon calipers and discs were never taken from the boxes they were shipped in. Four corners available from our still-born one-off F1000 build. (These items bolt directly to late model VD hub and uprights -- RFR, etc.).

Never let it be said that I only complain!

I'd been going back and forth with Brad Baytos of Primus Racing Parts to get the right two-piece rotor setup for my RF89 Van Diemen, when he suggested that he should just send me one to test the fit, and when I said I'd give him a credit card number, he wouldn't hear of it. "I'll just send it up you and you check it out".

Then, after things got a little delayed, he sent via 2-day shipping... ...for free.

And now he's given me a very good deal on the price on the whole set of four.

Clutch identity?

Can anyone tell, with only this minor visual data, what AP clutch - relative stiffness of release - this might be? I'm having trouble with the mechanical components but want to find out about the clutch as well as it seems really, really stiff (like impossible to disengage stiff). Yes, I should have cataloged this before I put it together and will do so when I pull it back apart over the next weekend or two, but thought maybe someone would recognize it.

FE car for sale, very nice, Florida location

Sadly I find it necessary to sell my FE car. It is a very nice car with a brand new fuel cell that is a lot of fun to drive. I just need the money for other things this year so if I drive I will have to rent something. It comes with 3 sets of wheels however one front wheel is bent from hitting something. Rain tires, spare clutch, Trans assembly tool, Aim Micron Dash, New belts and other small misc stuff. 30 weekends since new. I am the third owner. Very nice car. $30,000. I would consider prepping the car for southeast races for the right person.

DB6 front sway bar blade connector

Need some help on the DB6 in rebuilding.

The rear sway bar has a link which connects the two blades at the top. It's a rod with two heims and mounts on top of the links that go to the rocker.

The front had an aluminum plate with two holes drilled in it and than the links for the rockers were on top of that. It seems like the connecting piece would go under the rocker links in front despite that being opposite to the rear. I do feel strongly that an aluminum plate with holes drilled in it is not the correct method to link the blades though.

I am also not sure why the blades would be connected. I know they originally were but no other pushrod car with blade sway bars that I've ever driven have been connected. If they are going to be connected than what was originally used or what should be used? Seems like there isn't enough room for a heim system like the rear.

Pictures and comments would be greatly appreciated.

Long shot; Bruns, the DB-1, and the radial

The more I hear about setting up my DB-1 for the radials, the less I know. I am not a suspension engineer, and I don't happen to know anyone who is, but much as I suspected, the new tire appears to alter more than the camber angle. I know this is the ultimate long shot, but it won't cost me much to ask. Does anyone know Dave Bruns? Is he still active / interested in FF and the DB-1? Would he look at the new tire and the changes needed to adapt the Swift to the tire, and make some suggestions? I am sure the teams with good engineers will find a solution, but they are unlikely to give that to the rest of us. Bruns might be willing to support his creation and it's drivers.

Formula car roll cage bracing rule history

Does anyone remember when the roll cage bracing rule 9.4.5.C (1) was added to the GCR? What was the history behind that? My 1983 Crossle has the bracing added after original construction so it must have happened after 1983. I have been trying to talk some of my vintage friends in to racing their FFs in our regional CF class but the bracing modification required offends their vintage sensibilities.

We must have an unofficial history of safety improvements person out there somewhere who can put this into perspective.

Just wondering.
