ATT WIFI hijacking wifi connection

If you have ATT installed anywhere on your machine (phone or laptop) your system will automatically try to log you in to any available ATT hotspot regardless of whether you want to or not. Walking down the street in NYC the phone snaps to ATT WIFI log in when passing a hotspot. Sitting in the Delta Lounge I can't log in to Delta site (phone or machine) because the system keeps forcing the connection to a local ATT WIFI hotspot.

Does anyone have a work-around or way to defeat this? ATT site says I have (tacitly) agreed to this in the small print. IOW, no help from them.
