On an older FF or CF without the stressed bell housing module, is there performance value in adding 10 lbs of weight in a cast oil pan and associated hardware to tie it into the lower chassis. Assume the extra weight is increasing the amount the car will be overweight, ie now 60 lbs overweight instead of 50 lbs overweight.
This discussion would be relevant to many different cars. In this particular case, it is referencing an 83 Reynard with extra side mounts onto the side of the block.
Perhaps a plate across the upper rails into the thermostat housing on the head would be better use of stiffening weight. Comments?
