Trailer Axle ? (... help)

OK.....

It was time for a pre-long trip/spring trailer bearing/brake axle inspection and I have a question -- while there was NO evidence of leaking, new seals are to be installed on the inside - new shoes as well - the question -

Query A - the outside dust caps have a "rubber" plug (1) as opposed to being solid (2) and I am guessing, but is it this designed so that you can "load-up" the grease cap with grease in AFTER you repack the bearing ? [I have never loaded up that space ... or for some sort of inspection ?] ---

Query B - the local trailer parts store in the marine section has bearing buddies (3) which state on line .....

"[Car] trailers, because they are not used regularly, are also subject to bearing corrosion and failure from condensation moisture from air sucked into hot hubs as they cool. Moisture stays in the hubs causing rust and pitting until they are reheated when the trailer is used again."

I have never had a bearing or seal failure (I believe I maintain the trailer well ) but are Bearing Buddies worth the price and will the designed "spring load" cause overloading/shorten the life of the inside seal ? ....and

Query C - The Bearing Buddies web page "suggest" additional "seal" system/material - a stainless steel ring and "O" ring (more protection from water ?) and even IF you do NOT use Bearing Buddy

As always thanks

EJ
