The other day we had flipped the shoulder harness over into the engine bay in order to get some access while we worked in the cockpit. Then a day or two later we started the newly rebuilt engine for the first time. After a short while there was some smoke. Not coming from the engine itself. The photo shows what happened.
This is an OMP formula car shoulder harness with a cam lock. Brand new set costs $360. Because this is part of a registered set, OMP does not sell replacement pieces. Makes sense.
But this is for an autocross car so the date code is not an issue. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to not spend $360? Are there any outfits that will attach new material to the hardware? Does anyone have a used set to sell?
