Customer has an '06 Mygale with Zetec. Last event it started "missing" or what seemed like a miss that got progressively worse.
At the track they figured it might be the fuel pump. Yesterday we tested the pressure and found it was within the specified range: 60 PSI and steady.
Thinking about it further we took a look at the Aim system map of the voltage in two places: Battery and ECU.
Battery/Alternator shows good voltage, about 14 all the time the car is moving.
ECU voltage however is very low starting at 11 and progressively getting lower, settling at about 6 after 10-ish minutes of frustration for the driver.
1. We're looking for input, ideas where to look for a solution.
2.The flow of power from the alt. is from alt to starter post to master.
3.Power from battery goes straight to master.
4. Ground is battery to welded stud on chassis.
5. Power from master goes into large (4 ga.) wire in harness and disappears.
To properly diagnose we need a wiring schematic of the "factory" harness if one is available.
We removed the master and disassembled noting that it looked normal. Going to replace it anyway.
Ignition switch looked okay as well but is integral with the harness so we don't know exactly what it switches...
Any help would be appreciated.
