After nearly 30 years of faithful service, we have decided to retire our "original" tail from our db-1 - we acquired a new tail from cce composites (great piece Steve) much lighter and hope to get a few years out of it - (the old one will be retired to the "show circuit")
So.... since we I have not done this in 30 years and having spent the $ to get a lighter tail I figure I should try not to "heavy-it-up" with insulation etc. - BUT I would still like to preserve the paint - as you all know the db-1 has an over and out exhaust and close to the body -
I have that silver foil mat with fibrous material which is advertized as "Aluminized Heat Barrier Cloth which is great for protecting fiberglass bodywork from damaging exhaust heat" but it is a bit heavy - Then I thought to used the gold foil, again advertized as "special metalized polyamide polymer laminated to a thin layer of glass cloth, with a strong fire-resistant adhesive backing. This film is very lightweight at only 5 ounces per square yard."
So thoughts on these or suggestion for any other products ?
Thanks as always .........
EJ
