I am attempting to reduce the free play in the steering of my Lola T-342. It appears that the rack/pinion free play is adjusted by adding (or removing) thin washer-shaped shims between the pinion shaft cover and the pinion gear itself.
My question is - is there anywhere these shims can be obtained, or do I have to fabricate them out of flat shim stock? There are no shims currently installed in the rack.
Any comments or advice are most welcome.
