Van Diemen RF94 / RF95 FF (Void in the US?)

There seems to be a lot of Van Diemen RF94 / RF95 FFs over in Europe but none in the US. It seems to be very different (nose box, frame, bell housing, and bodywork) from numerous RF94 / RF 95 FCs in the US that seems to be a progressive design based off the RF90 – RF93. I know the RF93 engine bay was widened for the alternate Europe 1800cc FF engine.

So, what was the reason(s) the RF94 / RF95 FFs were not imported into the US?
