I know that there is another thread here that began as an inquiry for general information and morphed into a discussion about the posting in the preliminary Club Racing Board meeting minutes / Technical Bulletin of a proposed FE tire change.
Now that the 3/1/16 Club Racing Board minutes / Technical Bulletin have been officially released Fastrack, a separate thread may be warranted in order to put the issue in its own frame.

For what is worth, the text of my letter is below:
"At this point in time, I would like to go on record as being opposed to the proposed adoption of a new spec tire for the FE class.
To be clear, I do not have enough information to have an opinion on the tire per se, and this forms the core of my objection.
To date, we have officially been offered no information at all as to why this change is contemplated, simply that the departed CEO of Enterprises recommends the change.
As of this moment, I do not know anything about the (i) tires themselves, (ii) the distribution and service channel, (iii) pricing, of, (iv) any good reason for a change from a tire developed for FE to a tire that appears merely to be the closest another supplier has for the car.
In addition, the proposed effective date offers unacceptably short notice, and SowDiv has a race scheduled for 4/29-5/1.This does not allow adequate opportunity to source, test and develop set up, and renders several good sets of Hoosiers obsolete at the next race meeting on my personal schedule.
It occurs to me that if there were good, legitimate, above board reasons for a change, that they would have been widely articulated; instead this change seems to have been largely shepherded under the radar, raising legitimate questions as to the reason(s).
There is a fair amount of ‘unofficial’ information circulating, but it does not seem wise to comment on rumors and unofficial information, etc, it an attempt to get facts.
I will allow for the possibility that the proposed change has merit, but at the moment, and with the lack of information and justification offered, I am adamantly against the proposed change."
