I'm getting vague answers from lithium battery manufacturers so maybe Apexers can help.
Question 1 - are special alternators (or regulators) needed with lithium batteries? I'm thinking of the Denso 50A one-wire alternator - would this work? Also using the special lithium chargers between track sessison if needed.
Question 2 - for those using lithiums on total loss system cars (no alternator) - how long a race can they cover? In answering pls mention what car/engine and what size battery. I'm thinking of the 40 minute Runoffs - were any cars total-loss?
My application would be a vintage 2L CanAm car with 2L BDG (Kent based) in 90 minute races. If a larger lithium battery would last 45 minutes I could swap them at a pit stop - or just use two batteries (they're light enough) and switch over when necessary.
Thx in advance - Derek
