I purchased a 97 Van Diemen sight unseen and unfortunately wasn't able to get myself to fit satisfactorily. I have rented out an e30 as an HPDE car in the past, and I enjoyed working with other drivers, so:
Keith Averill and I (mostly Keith) are thoroughly vetting the 97 right now, and rather than put it back up for sale, I'd prefer to attempt to rent it. There has been some interest while asking around the shop, but I figured I'd see if I could drum up a solid commitment from someone, even if for only a partial season.
The car will be completely race-ready, and should be reasonably competitive, given Keith's setup experience. It currently has a fresh motor, fresh shock rebuild, fresh calipers and rotors, tons of new hardware, a brand new wiring harness, new fuel cell, and will be receiving a new safety harness soon. In other words, it's a completely sorted car with just about new everything. Pi2 digital dash.
Caveat is that larger drivers need not apply. I'm 6'2" and 225, and I ALMOST fit, but not well enough.
As we've got to put a price on things in this forum, I think somewhere in the neighborhood of $2000 per race weekend is appropriate, for car delivered to the track (assuming it's GLC series and I'll already be there). You would be responsible for your own seat, tires, and crew at that price. (I'd be happy to store and deliver your tires for you for no extra charge.) I'm open to negotiation and building a plan that works for both of us. I'm not looking to make a killing, but I do need to make a profit to make it worth my time. However, I'll do my best to go above and beyond to make your experience a good one, at a budget price compared to the pro shops.
The ideal renter: An experienced racer with no desire or space to own/maintain their own car. I handle storage, maintenance, and transport. But you know how to look after yourself at the track.
That said...Want to have crew? I can probably figure something out. Need tires included? I can probably figure something out. Want to test an FC (for race license holders) or have a car for a driver's school? Let's figure something out.
PM me for my contact info and let's chat. Cheers!
