Hi guys, I'm relatively new here. I come from the oval track world of sprint cars and midgets. Mostly pavement, but love all kinds of racing. I'm 6'4" and have been dreaming of a class of cars that I can fit in and would run road courses and ovals. In theory it could be as in Supermodified racing, all tube frame but with a rear engine design. Full size meaning 120-130 inch wheelbase. Power could be normally aspirated up to 5-6 liters, or turbocharged under 2.5L or so.
I know there really isn't room for another class, but I'm kind of dreaming here.. There are plenty of "full size" formula cars out there, ex Indy cars and F1 and F5000 ect... But who can afford that! I'm talking about something one can build himself, or with his/her team. I know I'm going to get a lot of flak here saying, "whats this guy know?" ect... While not a "Pro", let me say that I DO know what is involved having worked with Indy car teams and many other types of race cars. I am a machinist and fabricator, so I'm aware of the challenges. THat aside, What do you guys think? Just imagine for a moment the possibilities.... Any thoughts??? :checkered:
