I need to locate eight bolts - these are the bolts that hold the brake calipers to the uprights.
They are 3/8 x 16 (not 24) BUT if in fine thread configuration they would be - ANH6-12
They are sometimes called (I believe) "prop bolts"
I of course checked with the usual suspects Aircraft Spruce, Wicks, etc. no luck.
I of course would use a "MS" or NAS" but don't have a corresponding number
The bolts to be replaced were socket head cap screws ( 3/8 x 16 x 1.250) but they are fully threaded (i.e. no "grip") and while the interference is marginally less, I would prefer to use the correct bolts
As these bolts are in shear and NOT tension I guess I can find grade "8" 3/8 x 16, long enough with the same grip length and turn down the threads to make it fit, drill the heads etc BUT whew ...
Any help appreciated -
EJ
