As all of you eneterd for the Runoffs are now aware, we got an email from Lisa Noble.
Here it is:
Dear Fellow Runoffs Competitors,
When we announced our first trip to the West Coast in 46 years, it came with a new business model. I admit there was some trepidation on how the 2014 SCCA National Championship Runoffs would be received. As you can tell from the entry list, it's been a smashing success, and, on behalf of all of us here in Topeka, I thank you!
We set our budgets with very little data available and many things that were unknowns at the time. In doing so, and using conservative best practices, we told you that a higher entry fee was a necessity to bring the event to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca to support our Pacific Coast racers and those of you who have this iconic track on your bucket list of must-drives. I know it has been on mine!
Now, the good news – we overshot our mark. The numbers are in and I'm delighted to say that you guys and gals have exceeded expectation, with over 530 cars entered! In response, I will personally be delivering a $50 entry fee refund check to you during the event as a thank you. We know it isn't a financial game changer for you, but like the tow fund and contingencies, every little bit helps. There's no catch at all. I'll be walking the paddock throughout the week at various times to hand these out and if I happen to miss you during the week, your check will be mailed to you.
One word of warning... this won't happen every year. We've got a better idea now of where entry fees need to be in our new model, and will adjust accordingly prior to opening registration. This rebate is a one-year deal.
In the meantime, however, thank you again for your tremendous support of the 2014 Runoffs. Please, be safe traveling, and I look forward to seeing all of you (and competing against some of you in that Formula Vee race!) next week in Monterey!
Sincerely,
Lisa Noble

TO ALL OF OUR APEX FRIENDS ATTENDING THE RUNOFFS:
I strongly urge all competitors to endorse this 'rebate' check immediatly and hand it back to Lisa and say, "Thanks much for doing this, Lisa. I'd like to donate this rebate to the SCCA Foundation."
If we ALL endorsed and gave these small checks back to Lisa, she would leave the Runoffs with $25,000 in the Foundation's fund.
Please support this idea and return this small amount of 'found' money to a great cause.
