Race Monitor is now subscription based?

I admit I haven't used Race Monitor in a bit, but I was a bit surprised when I went to use it on my phone for the Runoffs to find out that it is now subscription based even though I had already purchased the Pro version when they first started using it at the track. When did they change their business model?
