August 2nd and 3rd I will be racing in the Race Against Kids Cancer to benefit childhood cancer research at High Planes Raceway. It is a really great event, and I am very happy to be a part of it. I spoke with the organizers and this is a very worthwhile event. The money that has been raise over the years is very impressive. I don't remember specifically, but I believe it is over $250k. Yeah. Total Morgan Adams family donations is over $2.2 mil. Yup...million. Like six zeros.
If you want to race a great event, at a really challanging track, come on out, please. The Denver area is beautiful and there is a lot to do in the event you want to make it into a family vacation. For those who can make it, here is the incentive. I will be driving in the FF class (but all vintage, FF, or "special" cars are welcome) and if you beat me in the race, you can write on me "I BEAT REID", with a Sharpie, and I will post photos on Facebook and apexspeed. If you can't make it....please consider a donation.
But where does the money go??!! To a great cause, in a great way. You can read more in the attachment, but the donations go for childhood cancer reasearch, specifically in spin and brain cancers and to organizations and projects that are viable and promising but not yet large enough to get interest from the big boys. To me, this is pretty awesome. Think of it as the skunk-works of cancer research, and THIS is where the breakthroughs will come. Pretty good place to put a few pennies if you ask me.

The "Reid-Will-Do-Anything-For-Money" incentive program: When I was 5 my Brother paid me $3 to eat nothing but Peaches for a week, and later a can of cat food. So clearly, I have some pretty questionable standards in what I will do for some scratch. I am very open to ideas, throw them out there.

Heck, that embarrassing June Sprints thread got 3,000 views....do the math. That would be a pretty large donation.

- $300 - At track crew/coach/set-up/umbrella girl. Donate $200 and I will crew and be your servant at any event local to me. Need a wrench? Need a few pointers on how to get around Road America? Need someone to dance a jazzy little number? I'm your man.
- $150 - I will open up the video vault and notes on Road America. Nothing is off the table.
- $50 - I will look at any video you have and offer feedback. As many videos as you want.
- $10 - I will write your name on a piece of tape and stick it to the car.
- $1 - I won't tell anyone you only donated a dollar.
- $$$$$ - You tell me! I can be bought, and my number is pretty low. I clearly have no ethical bounds in what I will do for money. Get creative.
