My tow vehicle is a 2006 GMC Savana van with the 5.3 V8. Supposedly makes 295 hp @ 5000 rpm (wouldn't want to rev it that high) and 325 lb ft at 4000. Only 70k miles. Pulled my little trailer great but so did my Buick. With the newer taller longer trailer it does ok but it strains.
Mileage is about 10. Even pulling nothing and driving carefully it takes alot to get 20 mpg. And on hills it just falls over itself.
So the thought of chipping it is enticing. But it would come with concerns such as:
Engine life
Transmission damage (infamous 4L80 E)
Other drive train components
And do the chips really help?
Your comments and advise are appreciated.
