Found this on a slot car forum:
Cost of wing car tires are insane!!!!
The price increase on the way for wing car tires is going to be a killer for the hobby. This isn't meant to point blame at anyone, everyone has to cover costs and make a buck but is it finally time for the USRA to step in and say enough. Instead how about .500 hubs (or some other size as long as it's standard), undrilled, unmilled and unwaffled for any class below Opens. $28.00 for a .650 tire when you need at least three pairs to get through a race and then if you race three classes thats $252.00 for a series race day just for tires. One standard hub for wingcar tires would greatly increase production efficiency and allow for lower costs. This is something that shouldn't even be voted on, the Board should simply use the emergency clause to come in and rectify this craziness. Do it effective for the 2014 Nats and that would give everyone time to adjust.
