Below is my submission to the AHC in reply to the 26 June request to Registry members. Any support?? If so, please respond to the AHC.
Believe the AHC's poll dated 26 Jun only highlights the
difficulty/complexity of this effort and further opens the "can of
worms" related to the now various disc brake scenarios.
Recommend that:
1. Delay ANY effort to meet the 2015 GCR deadline NOW. The class has
survived 51 years to date, so one more will have no impact. The 2 July
response deadline set by the AHC is truly unrealistic with the
expectation of trying to make a date set by the CRB. This would only
lead to a low response, and insufficient time for a thoughtful reply.
2. The FVAHC poll the registry members with a YES/NO vote on their
desire for a disc brake option at this time with ample time allowed for response. To my knowledge, this current conversion
scenario has gone on since October '13 with (2) CRB requests for "What do
you think" responses but no published feedback on the vote;
particularly the simple YES/NO vote requested in Feb '14. I have yet
to talk to any driver, constructor or engine builder that favors a disc
brake option and I don't think the APEX forum is a true indication of ALL
Vee driver's thoughts.
This is a perfect opportunity to step back and reformulate a
detailed/defined proposal, IF WARRANTED, for the 2016 GCR that is not
constrained by a short time submission requirement. The AHC is to be commended for all their efforts. However, a "re think" on this whole evolution would be a positive step to ensure a viable FV class without ending up with a class (FVD) within a class (FV).
