Will 6061-T6 accept loads equally in all directions? Obviously it is rolled in manufacture - does that create graining* in that direction or any other non-homogeneity? And would that create greater or less strength in that direction (or perpendicular to it - ie. across the grain?
I seem to think I heard that at some time. Or was it only for forged aluminum?
I need two pieces 4.5" wide x 2" thick by 8" long - which means I have to buy 6" wide stuff and waste 1.5". Would it matter if I bought 8" wide stuff and just ordered two pieces 4.5" long (plus cutting allowances)?
