Fuel cell foam replaced, now what?

I put new foam in my cell, and I noticed after I cut the foam a small amount of "crumbs" remained on the bench. I assume a certain amount of this debris is in the foam itself, in the cell. Is there a suggested way to rinse this out now rather than wait and pick it out of the fuel filter after each run?
