Owned for about 17 years, I wanted to get this posted today
For Sale: Crossle 32F 1978 Chassis #73. I've run it FF or CF / Vintage eligible - frame up rebuild 2014 thru 2015. SCCA logbook current signed off Nov. 2015. I was in this car and smacked the guard rail Sebring short 2010, read ApexSpeed thread "Eyerace Injury at Sebring" for details. Instead of parting car out, and having one less racecar in the world, I decided to throw time and money at rebuild because frankly these cars deserve it. You've likely heard of Rick Hendrick MotorSports [his cars had Pole and Outside Pole 2015 Daytona 500]...well his Brother, Buddy Hendricks MotorSports, did most of this car's rebuild. I'm selling it because I'm racing my VD FC and I promised my Wife years ago as I recovered I would not race the Crossle again. Years ago when tire choice was free, driven by Tom Nadeau, car held Sebring long course record. By me three times Sebring short course record 1:12.982 [as memory serves me, I've got it written down and will recheck], assisted by Eric Weeder in FM draft, thank you!...SCCA supps that weekend made CF tires free so I was on GY250 not Hoosier R60.
Front to rear:
Bonded/Riveted belly pan, New Aluminum Radiator, New Crossle made front Bulkhead, new front sway, all Tilton Master Cylinders new with new plumbing, all wheel cylinders rebuilt, Hawk Blue pads, new front SPAX Krypton gas Dampers, Aurora rod ends all front new, new brake bias bar & cable - bias is set, gel cell battery new Oct. 2015, original dash and working gauges, new D steering wheel, Eagle fuel cell new 5 years ago and was stored with AV gas in it during these years, camlock Willans belts expire 2020,, I used a poured seat - still have original leather padded Crossle seat, new cable for roll bar mounted kill switch, 2 hour Farley iron head Kent, Tilton starter, under engine detachable belly panel, Mobil 1 oil filter with FilterMag, BAT oil pump, oil cooler, new coated BAT header, new motor mounts, Tilton 7 1/4 inch single plate clutch - has 2 hours on it, annular clutch slave, SCCA spec lightened flywheel, Taylor build Hewland MK 9 tranny, SPAX Krypton gas rear Dampers, Revolutions - 2 sets.
I have it and mounts are on car but did not reinstall the rear adjustable sway bar as: 1. I never adjusted it during races and 2. I kept setting it static looser and looser to the point that where I ran it disconnected be conditions wet or dry. Nose is 40 style. The 32F center section bodywork was painfully rebuilt. I have the original 32F rear body but prefer the 40F rear as it's much lighter. Paint is Ford Truck black.
I shall post pictures as soon as I can get to it........but come on, to give the reader credit, you know what these cars look like.....and this one's clean.
I promised the corner worker that I give credit to for saving my life that he and I would Autocross it if the chance presents, other than that it's going to stay in the garage and only be fired up maybe once every six weeks or so for a few minutes until sold. If it sells first Kevin will understand.
Spares list will follow but I know there's one iron head [my favorite] and about 28 gear sets, one dog, one CV, four radius rods, new head and exhaust gasket. I will include the 12 point head bolt torque tool, over the tire mounting straps. Car is in Orlando, would deliver as far as Savannah but buyer might be better off digging through my garage with me to get all the spares. I haven't figured this out yet as I've not sold a racecar on-line before but one idea is payment can be to my Attorney's Trust Account.
$15,500.
