Tire Valve Stems Size Question

I'm installing new metal tire valve stems on freshly painted rims. The hole diameter on the rim is .453" and the valve stem diameter is .625".

Can I drill out the rim hole diameter to .625" to fit the valve stems? or will this cause sealing issues?

Any other tips or tricks for installing tire valve stems?
