Drag Reduction Device ... the "DRD"

A nice son and father (.... very little father) story.......

BACKGROUND - A while back Jason wanted videos of his driving to study, he liked HD format/pricing that a Go Pro offered yet he did not want to sacrifice speed with the camera mounted on top the Swift.

He discussed with me (ok, I listened) the problems of aero, natural and induced resonance, stability, etc. and the possible solution(s) and we named the project the "Drag Reduction Device" or the DRD (....note~ well before the F1 "DRS")

INITIAL PROCESS
- Since late 2010, and as some of you know, Jason has been working on the device to reduce the drag as well as the natural and aero resonance yet adding stability with retention of the sound recording characteristics for the Go Pro Camera. Using various design applications, including a computational fluid dynamics program in conjunction with Solid Work modeling (as well as old garage intuition,) he built over thirty (30) prototypes - each one with different/modified shapes, angles, tapers, etc. from the original design often so slight I could not tell -- but he could.

As the project progressed, we made (.... ok, he designed them, I used the screwgun, saw and hammer) his own wood rotational cast molding tumbler and a wood curing oven out of a locally sourced (ie. Home Depot, hair dryers, fans , etc.) materials/parts to construct the later DRD models.

TESTING
- Initial testing began in late 2011 on the roads around Orlando and trips to and from Fort Lauderdale - on the roof of his street car. Then with the help of Paul Schneider/FE and Glenn Cooper/FB of the original prototypes were shown and used at the RA Runoffs.

Getting close to "Job1" form, final but extended testing began in earnest in 2012 at COTA on the db-1 - in final form hew was checking for improved for load reduction, stabilization, wind noise reduction etc. His job at General Dynamics was very time consuming and he actually moved on a temporary basis to SanFran for a year so delays occurred due to his job.

LEGAL STUFF - In 2013 we ( I did help here !) worked on initial packaging and Federal Trademarks. After 30 years of use (...a whole other story...), and in June of 2012 I applied for/re-trademarked "DANGEROUSCARGO " and our red signal flag; it was issued in January of 2013; - Later that year, I decided well, as he worked so hard - I suggested to him we apply for, in his name, and see if we can actually get USPTO Design AND Utility patents, and register the trade phrase, "Never Sacrifice Speed" . This second trademark was applied for in August, 2013 and issued in March, 2014.

While I applied for the provisional patent in September, 2013 , the final Design and Utility patent work was given to an atty who specializes in the field and he, and a "patent drawing artist", did the final submission in early 2014.

TADA On October 28, 2014, Jason Generotti, M.E. was awarded a USA Patent for the DRD !!! His first engineering patent.

PACKAGING - We are finishing the packaging and the enclosed added value "kit" - It will have a few "extra" items included for a seemless installation and use -- the market includes not only cars but Karts, ski'ers, wake boarders, snowboarders, motorcyclists, etc. .......

......... SHARK TANK, here we come (LOL) !!!!
