transponder lap times accuracy?

has anyone ever experienced any inaccuracy with transponder lap times?

we just ran the ELVF at Road America and the recorded fastest laps on the result sheet from sunday seemed to be about 2 seconds faster than what my crew had me at.

i assumed it was just a software program that spit it all out, but maybe there is some human involvement that could cause the error?
