Pocono Challenge Cup Update

After some great racing at Mosport with the F-1200 group during the second round of the Formula Vee Challenge Cup sponsored by Complemar Partners Inc., the third round of the series moves on to Pocono Raceway. This event is being put on by the Tri-Region SCCA and is titled “Laps To Conquer MS”. The Region is making a contribution to end multiple sclerosis and entrants are encouraged to help donate also. They have given the Formula Vee Challenge Cup Series its own feature race on Sunday and have displayed our logo on the program and other materials.

Series competitors should be aware that, to reduce potential costs for Series competitors and allow entrants to start for home earlier on Sunday, the Divisional race on Sunday will not count for Series points. The Saturday qualifying race and the featured Challenge Cup Sunday morning race will be points paying.

Speaking of paying, Complemar Partners Inc. is putting up prize money for the first three finishers in the Saturday qualifying race. The winner will receive $50, second place $35 and third place $25.

There will also be a pizza party with free beer and pop sponsored by Complemar and Partners Inc. one hour after the finish of the Saturday qualifying race. This will be held at the Maloney Vee Racing group’s paddock area. This family of long-time Vee racers and Series supporters have generously volunteered to host this get-together and our thanks go out to them. All Vee drivers and crew are welcome, but if you want to sit, please bring your own lawn chairs. The Challenge Cup Series banner will be on display for help in locating their paddock spot.

The new layout at Pocono has been reported to be a blast in a Vee, the track management has a very friendly attitude and the organizers are going out of their way to make us feel welcome. So come test the high banks of Pocono, racing with a tight Vee field – the experience of a lifetime!
