Is This The Best Vortech You Can Buy?

Probably.

A Rod Stout built Vortech chassis # 0204 with a Quicksilver engine. I’ve owned this car since new. It is one of three Vortechs that I’ve assembled, including Steve Oseth’s National Championship winning car. I have been working in the racing industry for 39 years, and have built everything from FV’s to Pro Formula Atlantic championship winners. Everything I know about building a car that makes the car easy to work on, and reliable over the long haul, has been utilized with this car.

Since the Runoffs in 2008 where this car finished 3rd with a fastest lap of 1:48.384 behind Brad Stout (1:48.130), and Michael Varacins (1:48.370), my job doing data analysis and coaching for pro teams has severely restricted my ability to run the car.

It did not race in 2009, though all of the shocks were sent to Joe Stimola to get the “Brad” updates from the 2008 Runoffs.

In 2010, with a fresh Quicksilver, the car did 2 race weekends, twice lowering the track record and winning the National at Hallett, and taking the pole and win in the National at Topeka.

In June of 2013 at the Heartland Park Double National, the car netted a 2nd, a win, and set a new track record.

Freshly updated heads were just installed last month with the latest updates from Quicksilver. If I can’t get it out of the shop and have fun with it, it’s time for someone else to.

The car has a 20 channel CDS Co Pilot 2 data system including an AFA- 4 (4 channel wideband air/fuel system), suspension pots, all engine sensors, as well as throttle, steering, and lat and long g. This is a GPS based system that also has a physical wheel speed sensor as well. It also runs all the dash and radio button wiring through the steering shaft quick disconnect, just like the “big” cars. No coil cords to deal with.

Quicksilver Engine as described above. Only those 3 minimal mileage weekends with no test days run. New bell crank carb linkage from Kochanski was mounted last year that allows the carb to be mounted with the float bowl towards the front of the car.

Steering box and pedals have been moved further down than a stock Vortech to accommodate my 6’2” frame. One of the side benefits of this is a longer pitman arm with a shear plate. This speeds up the steering, and provides some protection for the steering box when a front wheel hits a curb or…… All the parts needed to return it to stock are available.

Pedal assembly has been assembled so that by removing 4 bolts, the throttle cable from the pedal, and cutting of 6 tywraps, the entire pedal/mastercylinder/master cylinder reservoir assembly may be pulled back into the cockpit completely intact. Great for servicing, and cleaning.

Aircraft quality sealed toggle switches.

Lightweight aluminum fire bottle-in the green.

Race Mirrors Professional Extreme carbon fiber mirrors.

All fuel, clutch, throttle, and brake lines near any heat source are fire sleeved.

All clutch and brake lines are clear coated.

Fuel with the exception of the Runoffs spec fuel has always been avgas. Fuel cell skin and foam is still yellow.

There is a large amount of “spares” and extras available including, but not limited to:

7 total sets of wheels including a mounted set of brand new bagged Goodyear rains.

]2 new trailing arms.

1 new steering arm.

Spare pitman arm.

Spare shear plates for pitman arm.

Front skid plates- That is not stock-another bit added to my car.

Spare master cylinder reservoir.

2 noses-1 very heavily used lol.

22 short box with green shoes drum to drum.

22 long box with green shoes drum to drum.

Rod Stout built front end drum to drum with new green shoes that has never been used(mounted in the trailer).

New non-handed carbon mirror-I wasn’t going to spend $325.00 to have a spare set of mirrors. This one will mount to either side if needed, and the guy repairs destroyed looking mirrors very reasonably. Last repair was $25.00, and that mirror was a mess. He does unbelievable work.

All the bits needed to return to stock the pedal and steering box mounting including the pedal mount, pitman arm, and steering shaft with quick release for steering wheel.

There are more bits to be gone through as well, backing plates, drums etc.

Complete car as raced last year with all noses, all data, a copy of the notebook (includes session sheets for every event the car has run), one set of wheels, and the stock pedal mount: $25,000.00. If you will cover expenses, I'll come to a race weekend with you and help you get off the ground with your new car the best way possible.

Email or call for more information, or pricing with other pieces. Until the chassis is sold, I’m not willing to separate parts/pieces.
