After reading an article about a gent who had his trailer/Porsche stolen I checked into the recommended iTrack 2.0 Portable Asset Tracking System. Looked good so I got one from Amazon at $199.
It appears to be everything it says and is easy to set up. No monthly fee although you do have to get a sim card from a phone provider as it uses SMS for everything. ATT charges $100 a year for one. Every type of warning you need plus you can monitor the conversations occurring near the unit as well.
Better functions (for me) are the Geo Fence (alert when trailer moves 200 yards in any direction), Vibration alert (if trailer is moved or hit) and you can even set a specific area to narrow down the Geo Fence parameters. Also includes speed alerts and all other warnings designed for fleet protection. All commands sent very easily via SMS and you can have several phones authorized to receive alerts. Magnetic box with two different antennas that work well even inside the trailer in a remote 4G area.
