Bob Lybarger

It is with a heavy heart that I report that my dear friend, competitor and vee legend, Bob Lybarger passed away last night. He raced vees from the very beginning of the class and his work as a VW dealer parts manager gave him incredible insight to the class and preparing fantastic vees. A long time friend of Bill Noble, he was an innovative transmission builder and teacher to many folks. He coached many national champions and his advice was sought by many.

As a driver. he won the June sprints twice, besting fields in excess of 50 cars. In his house were shelves and shelves of trophies from his many victories. In addition to vees he drove Atlantics and Super Vees.

After hanging up the helmet, he became a steward, served on the CRB for 9 years and the BOD for 6. He and his wife Pat, were Cen Div fixtures for nearly 50 years.

He was a true SCCA legend.
