I have been helping a friend with a few cars that were prepped by "pro shops" and for the second time now, from two different shops, I have seen ride heights adjusted at the spring perch and not the push rod. In one case, in the rear there was 8 turns of preload on one side, and a quarter inch of slack on the other. What gives? When did this become seemingly common practice for bell crank cars? How can shops that do this for a living have no idea how to set up a car properly? I'm a little frustrated because the car owners are really good people and I feel like they have been ripped off, especially considering what they were charged. One shop I gave specs to set the car to, included ride height and spring preload. It came back with ride height adjusted at the perch. How does someone ignore and not even ask what that spec meant, and then charge for it?
