Perception

Been wanting to run this past the ApexSpeed community for a long time but never remembered when I was in front of the keyboard, until now. It's a question involving how your brain sees and interprets things. Haven't noticed it in "real life", but when watching racing on TV it happens all the time.

I mostly watch IndyCar, F1, and GP2. While watching the race I often see some subtle tire slip (we all do I'm sure), so I'll want to look at it again. Not a sideways thing. It's always very minor. But after hitting the replay button and watching the same bit again, many times I won't see it. Just don't see what I saw (or thought I saw) the first time.

So some questions ...

Does this happen to anyone else?

Do you think I really didn't see it?

Or did my brain "get used to it" and so when I watched it again it somehow didn't make the same circuits?

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Jim
