Hi:
I have this open trailer that has been a great way to tow a FV to the regional track. I can't afford neither a big truck nor an enclosed trailer and so far the open trailer and a Ford Escape with a 2L EcoBoost have been enough to cover my needs. The tow is very comfortable, there's surplus of acceleration power and the gas mileage is excellent. The braking is ok.
Next season I anticipate to tow outside of the Province, for 20h streches (each way). It seems like a lot of miles for the race car to be open to the elements. Also I'd like to make sure the race car is somehow safe during overnight stays on the road. Wrapping the car seems like it would protect it from the elements but not so much from curious eyes (and hands).
I am attaching a picture of the trailer and the towing vehicle. I have been thinking of adding lightweight panels to close the trailer. At the same time I want to keep the trailer as light as possible.
I'd like to get some ideas on how to do this on a budget. There's some challenges, one of it being that at the rear the trailer is somehow slightly shorter than the car. At the front, I just need to remove the nose cone, and the car fits within the envelope of the toolbox/tire rack.
Thanks,
JS
