First weekend out in the Z-16 at VARAC Vintage Grand Prix

We acquired the car over the off season after sitting for over 10 years. Needless to say, there were a number of things needing a complete overhaul. It was a LOT of effort to get the car to what we thought might be ready to race. Up until a day before the event, we still weren't sure if we were going to run it. We decided to run the test day, see how it goes, and decide after that if we would continue through the whole weekend.

Long story short, the car ran like a top. Not only was it our first time out with the car, it was my first time out in a Formula Ford of any kind, so there was lots of learning and progressing for both myself and the car through the weekend. I ran 12 our of 13 full sessions over the weekend (pulled in because of a broken spark plug of all things). By the end, I turned a 1:33.2, second fastest CF and only 0.3s off David Clubine's fast time of the weekend.

I am beyond ecstatic about the weekend, and can't wait to get back in it again!

Here's a video of the Formula Ford feature race which ran on Sunday. Excellent battle between the top 6 cars:
