I friend recently purchased a car that was advertised as "race ready"….
We've all seen the ads, "Just add fuel and go racing!
"Just put a battery in it and your ready for the track!"
"Nothing needed but ….."
He calls me after you gets the car in his garage. No brakes, feels like they need to be bled…. hmmm
I open the RR caliper and not a drop of fluid in it…. Uh oh…. OK, push down on the pedal, nothing, no air no fluid. OK pump and hold down, same result, after 3 tries, time to back up and start checking connections. Starting at the master, I check first fitting, open it, push down, fluid comes out, good, move to the next fitting. Open it, pumps fluid out, good, move down the line. Get to the rear firewall/bulkhead, the rear brake line is crossed and goes to the clutch slave. The clutch line goes to the rear calipers…… Unbelievable
The rear brake master was connected to the clutch slave and the clutch master was connected to the rear brake calipers…
OK. switch the lines and finish bleeding the brakes and the clutch. 1.5 quarts later, both are working properly and now have fresh clean fluid throughout.
Now we know that we have to check everything on the car.
Anyone else care to share their "Bought a car that was "race ready" stories?
