FOR SALE: Formula Ford (1979 Club Ford) Lola T540 (HU32)
This car is in excellent condition with extensive spares. Most recently raced at PMP, Pueblo, CO with SCCA in Oct, 2013, winning final feature race of weekend. All log books. Car won pole at SCCA Run-Offs when new in ‘79 with Greg Atwell driving for Carl Haas. I purchased it for the 2010 season from Jim Roemer of Wisconsin, after it finished 6th out of 66 CF’s at the 40th year celebration of Formula Fords at Road America, and 16th over-all out of 99 from all eras, driven by Bill Bonow.
The engine was fresh from Curtis Farley for that race, and I’ve put appx 10 hrs on it since then with absolutely no problems. Farley sent me the dyno result from his refresh; 115.3 hp. It has:
Iron cyl head
Ford crank, rods, and coated pistons
Bosch coil,
Tilton Super Starter[
Hy-Tech exhaust
Mecca oil filter
Aluminum Radiator
Frame was stripped and powder coated just prior to 40th. I had a tall-man roll bar installed by SCCA Enterprises contractor, FAB-TECH, to accommodate me at 6’1” 195-lb, and meet tech (original roll bar included). It has:
Very comfortable and strong wrap-around padded metal seat (easily changed) / SFI restraints good thru 2015 (SCCA)
Pedals set-up for right and left foot braking, see photos
Fuel cell foam new in 2009
Electronic fire system control and plumbing new in 2010
ARP wheel studs, rear with machined sleeve nuts/spare
Two Dogg tubular axle shafts, honed cv-joints
Mk9 transaxle, 9-31 R&P, steel diff, all excellent with no cracks, repairs, or helicoils
Front suspension is nearly new, wider track by Pat Prince. Also:
Spindles crack checked
Koni Double Adjustable shocks, steel body by Truechoice
LD19 Brake Calipers, fr and rr, with newer steel rotors and cockpit adjustable brake balance bar
The car comes with:
2 complete (one piece) bodies, one nearly perfect with original snorkel, one excellent with rough detached snorkel; 3 wide aero noses from excellent to fair, with spare supports; 1 narrow light nose excellent. All graphics and decals are removable, except center wide stripes on best body, see photos.
Set-up bars and Quick Jack
14 Revolution wheels in total, all excellent with spare sleeve nuts; 1 set of used Am Racer, 1 set of used Hoosier R60, 1 set old but useable Goodyear rain tires
15 gear sets cover most any track; 2 extra dog rings
Momo steering wheel, SPA electronic tach, AMB hard-wired transponder, new Gelcel battery, LED rain light
Other Spares: at least 2 sets of original front suspension arms and links, most rear suspension spares including one upright (universal, I think), a selection of springs, brake items, a second starter, a second steel race head, a spare water pump and drive, spare axle/cv-joints, the usual misc fasteners-bits-pieces, the orig steering wheel, mech tach and drive, fiberglass seat, water pipes and brass radiator, used side panels and bulkhead panels, a foam seat, 2 exh headers
Weight is 928lb with light nose, race fluids, without driver
I now have 2 very interesting CF’s, which is one too many. This is the most saleable one, and it deserves a good home… for $10800. Come see it or contact me for further details/photos/negotiation
