Folks,
I'm looking to take some weight out of my Van Diemen RF89 Special ("Special" because a previous owner heavily modified the front suspension after a big crash), and as well, I'm thinking about changing my exhaust to a down, out and back configuration from it's current, very custom, out, down then back configuration.
And now that I've looked about at a lot of pictures of RF89s around the web, it's slowly becoming clear to me that, in addition to the other modifications done to the car, the cooling system has probably also been modified.
Can anyone tell me if your car has anything akin to the coolant header tank (brass/bronze colour in front of carburetor) or coolant swirl tank (nickel plated and large at the front left of the engine bay) seen in the attached photo? I've looked at a bunch of images of RF89s and RF88s and I can't see anything like them on any car I've looked at. Between the weight of the tanks and the weight of the extra coolant in the tanks, I think I could probably lighten the car by 10-15 lbs easily.
Does anyone have good images of how his or her cooling system is plumbed that you could show?
Cheers,
Alan
