The car was successfully road raced up until about 6-7 years ago by Joe Fisher in the Cincinnati Region. I have the log books. It is now a Solo car. It's fully capable of running with the fastest CM cars in the Indy Region(Country). With a new fire system, gearing change and new belts it could be put back on the race track with a reasonable amount of effort. With the right driver and a little more development, there is absolutely no doubt in my mind this car can win CM at Nationals.
The car with all fluids and a dry fuel tank weighs about 870lbs. There is still a TON of weight that can be taken out of the car with some effort. I'm about 6'2" and currently 225lbs(down from about 240lbs) and am perfectly comfortable in the car. I have dozed off in the drivers seat before. With a proper seat the car could easily hold a taller driver. It typically weighs about 1105 lbs coming off course after an event with me in it. If you are a big guy and have an interest in CM, this is your car.
The car is in overall good condition. It's ready to race but could, like all mod cars, use some development and a few non-pressing maintenance items here and there.
The Good:
Integral first gear. Spare standard layshaft also included
RFD alumminum head
Koni 2812 shocks(Bumps? What bumps?)
TDI aluminum diff carrier
Newer starter replaced a year ago
New clutch last year
New diffferential spider gears and side gears
Rear third of the car completely rebuilt last winter by Mark Lamm. He also went through the gearbox. It shifts fantastic.
3 sets of wheels
1 set of Hoosiers new last season, wrapped and stored properly with one event on them, one junk set, one junk rain set, all mounted.
Custom nose cone with the mold included.
The engine was refreshed right before it became an autocross car. It runs strong. It may have, at most, 3 full seasons of use on it.
Hytech header with nearly new Coast Fabrication stainless muffler. Easily makes sound and sounds great on course.
New Bell Housing
New fuel pump with new lines and fittings. Spare fuel pump included.
Spare, brand new, front lower control arms. One of the arms on the car has a dent in it. That bugged me so I bought a new set. They never made it on the car.
New radiator and new temp sensor and temp gauge. All new coolant hoses.
The Bad:
The body work isn't perfect. I would consider it in "fair" condition. It looks fantastic on course and from a distance but there are a few dzuz fasteners that need replaced and there are a few cracks in the paint just like on most other CM cars I've seen. It's perfectly functional.
The car runs great but could use some tuning. We never dug into the carburetor to optimize the jetting. This was going to be our next project. I'm guessing there is a little more power to be had with the proper tuning.
The electrical system functions perfectly but could be cleaned up a bit.
It needs the right side seal replaced on the gearbox. I was planning on having Mark Lamm do that this winter. It's not a difficult job and the part is reasonably inexpensive. I'm in line to get the car over to Mark's to get this done. Depending on when he is available and when the right buyer comes along, this might be done before delivery. If not, I'll be happy to include the part in the purchase price.
There are other Goods and Bads that I am forgetting but certainly noting major. I'll add them as I remember.
Sale price is $11,900. I'm pretty certain there isn't a better CM car or one with more potential for the money in the country. The on course photo is from the Toledo National Tour a few years back. The pictures of the car disassembled were taken as Mark Lamm was rebuilding the rear 1/3 of the car. The others were taken about a month ago and the car is currently in the same condition as those photos show. I would be happy to take any more specific pictures on request. If you have any questions feel free to email at autox@comcast.net or call me at 317-753-4561. I don't check messages on here very often. It would be much better to reach me by email or phone.
Thanks for looking.
