1969 Caldwell FF Project

Unique 1969 Formula Ford Project

It is a 1969 Caldwell D9 1969 - #110039 which was

purchased as a complete running autocross car in 1990.

It was a factory built and maintained "house car" and has the

original chassis plate, original rocker cover with signed

and dated plate from engine builder, and a beautiful cast aluminum

Holbay rocker cover.

It was disassembled in 1990 and stored in a heated garage.

It has the Kent 1600 engine 711M block and

Hewland Mk 4 (H4- 439PJ), still all complete and bolted

together with clutch, intake, carb, dry sump pan and

pump, exhaust header. Engine checked out OK,

but I do not know if motor is FF legal internally.

New parts include a 7 piece body from original molds, new brass radiator,

new Pat Prince left lower control arm.

Among other things needed to race are

fuel cell (has original Al fuel tank) belts, windscreen,

battery, one Hewland side plate cover needs repaired,

If you plan to race it, special attention will be necessary

to check frame and roll bar - these were gas welded

using 50 year old technology.

No spares. One set of steel wheels.

Has logbook #11-207 documenting 29 races from 1972-1985,

but does not include races from 1969-1971. (Log books

were required starting in 1972.)

mostly Southeast.

I prefer to sell it to one of the original owners/drivers to

include from 1972-1985
