Okay guys, well I am completely new to the Formula Vee and VW world. I will be picking up my first Formula Vee in two weeks. I am currently in veterinary school in Mississippi so there are no FV races anywhere near me. I plan on racing autocross for now with my Vee. I wanted to see what all I should do in order to make my FV more competitive for autocross.
Just from looking at the FV designs I figure my biggest issue is going to be cooling. What have you guys done to help keep the temp down? Electric fans? If so what do you do about the electrical system?
Luckily it already has a zero roll suspension setup on the rear. What about the front suspension? What would be the best setup for autocross? The school I am at has a huge engineering department and every few years has a Formula SAE team that competes so I am hoping I can find some students that need to do a project for one of their classes and maybe get them to fab me up a new front suspension setup that I can use for autocross.
What's the ideal wheel/tire setup for a formula vee for autocross?
I'm sure there are plenty other things that could use addressing but that's the biggest things I can think of off the top of my head.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Spencer
