FS: Hewland Mk9 5spd

Guy needed money and came by with this 'barn find' and I caved.

Mk9
Good case
Hewland side covers, no damage
Carrier is fine
Thrust washer pocket is perfect
Rails pop decently, never 'prepped' by today's std
Rear cover is fine
Dbl roll ball side bearings
Tapered diff
9:31 HC8 in excellent condition
Basic open diff
Set up now as 5sp
All Mk5 gearing and layshaft
Gears showing bluing from heat, bet it was started, not run with no oil...
Some dents in one of the gears, didn't evaluate fully
Ring nut pinion bearing
*Ring nut only part missing that I see
VW input shaft, not FF or FC
Old rusty TO bearing
A bit of water chalking inside the main case
Cage bearing are seemingly ok
Wide lug dogs
Finger has rust on it, no shaft seal

Overall...not a mess. With basic cleaning and some WD40 you could put this puppy together and run it.

Ideally...yeah, it needs new bearings and gear sets.

Dis assembled by a VW guy..thus they remove the ring nut and press out the 'stack' with the nuts in place. I had to pull the pins and the nus! Thus the idler spigot is out also as it would hit the pinion bearing moving back.

I've been pretty much out of the FF work/biz for some time. I really have no time and desire to sink money into this. Assembled..it's probably worth $3500 or more. As it sits it's available for $2200 ground UPS included (US). Come take it and do what you want with it. I'll make a few bucks and you can too.

PM me and we can make it happen.
