RF88 Van Diemen FF1600

1988 Van Diemen FF1600 Chassis # 1276

Overall, the car is in excellent condition. It was last raced in September 2010 at Mosport. Since then, the car has been stored indoors in a heated/dry environment.

The 711M engine was completely overhauled with new pistons, bearings, camshaft, dry sump pump, etc. and Britwest-prepared Cortina GT cylinder head. It has about 3 hours total time since rebuild. The engine has been absolutely reliable, oil pressure is good and temperatures remained correct even on hot days. The clutch was upgraded to a Tilton unit with hydraulic annular release mechanism in 2009.

The Webster/Hewland 4 speed transaxle was rebuilt in 2008 and shifts properly. Gearing is currently set up for Mosport.

The frame has never been damaged and is straight. The original body panels are in good condition with several areas of minor superficial cracking typical of bodywork on a tube frame-formula car. The paint is good and will shine up nicely with some small chips from track time.

The electrical system consists of a ford electronic race-prepped distributor and Bosch blue coil. Switches and wiring are original Van Diemen. Starter rebuilt in 2008. Rain light and master switch as per CASC rules. Electronic tachometer, mechanical oil pressure, electric coolant temp gauges.

Suspension has been checked and is tight. All bearings are in good shape, spin freely and quietly. Bilstein rebuilt and valved the shocks in 2008.

Brake rotors and carbo metallic pads replaced for the 2008 season as well. The car has cockpit adjustable brake bias. All brake lines are Aeroquip and fluid is ATE blue.

The car sits on a set of lightweight Revolution wheels and there is also a set of steel shop wheels that are included.

The seat is factory and the harness will have to be changed as it's out of date. Steering wheel is a quick-release MOMO.

Included among the spares are the following: starter, distributor, two noses, front cover, engine side cover, and radiator cowls as well as a spare front crush box. Spare suspension parts include control arms and front/rear spring sets of various rates.
