I was considering registering in advance for the 2015 Majors season, and the number I had from last year is not available. I have to select a new number from what is available, and also give up my number I've had forever in the SEDIV?



From what I am reading, you should get the number from last year if you register before the deadline....



In other words, I would have one number for a major, another for a regional...

New F500 Interest...Questions!

Hi everyone, first off this is just brainstorming I'm not in the market for an F500 right now but have been toying with the idea of driving a formula car for a season just to get some experience as all my events have been in touring type cars. These also seem relatively cheap...so...how cheap? I've always loved the class growing up and the Runoffs race was exciting.



I'd be interested in just regionals for seat time. I'm on a tight budget this season and plan on driving an IT car with a friend but I'm sure I'll get an itch to tinker on my "own" car and my wife likes open wheelers. Lol Plus they're easier to work on from my experiences with friends.



So what could I get a race ready regional car for? I've seen a variety through the years but some are too far and some need a bit of work. I need to read the GCR for F500 but what tire size do you all run? What consumables am I looking at? Any major issues? I want something affordable and easy to work with. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Hello all, This question goes out to those western Canadian racers who run at Edmonton's Castrol speedway, What Carb jetting is being used at that track elevation ?



I'm sure I'm located no less than a thousand meters lower in altitude which is where my carb is set up to run at.

Availability of take-offs in southeast?

HI guys, with the upcoming transition I'm considering leaving SRF as I've always wanted a formula car and this seems the only way to go for spec racing. One big plus for me for SRF though is the easy availability of free take-offs at the Good year trailer for extra practice tires. Just wondering if there are ever any take-offs available at the Hoosier trailer for the FE or if I'm basically looking at only new tires? Thanks again guys.

Found a log book with homolgation certificate

This is a full, very old log book #03-873 for a Swift DB6 chassis no. 03090 in FC.dated 10/7/90. The photos in the front show the car in white with a wide red stripe angling through the center and number 88 on the rear wing end plate. There is a yellow sticky on the front with the name Rege Brunner.

One of our long-time ApexSpeed members, John Spinello (thewarehouse) or J.P. as many call him, has helped me a few times over the years. He selflessly helped me tow back my Citation Formula Vee many years ago, when I didn't have any trailering capabilities, and he owns our original 1990 Reynard FC that was converted to a FF. We're connected in a lot of ways.



Driving up to pick up my Citation, I learned that his dad invented the game "Operation" many years ago. I actually got to meet his dad at the 40th FF event at Road America a few years ago as I was looking over our old car. John's dad (John) invented a lot of old time games that you probably have on your shelves right now.



His name popped up in our Twitter feeds today, in an article on NPR. He's in need on an expensive surgery and can't afford it. I guess the licensing on those games was sold years ago, and the rest was as an employee of the company he worked for.



Looks like there is a Crowdrise (crowd funding) effort started to help John get his surgery. Seems like a worthwhile cause for one of our own...

An apology

Gents;



A couple of months ago, I replied to a post that highly agitated and offended another Apex member. Stunned by his reaction and words that hurt me deeply, I could only respond with “this will be my last post on Apex”.



Following the collapse of the Formula Ford Underground, the entire FFU membership was cordially invited to join Apexspeed, and without hesitation, I was the third FF driver to register. Over the years, I had found the Apex membership to be a family whose company I enjoyed the pleasure of, and that I admired and respected all absolutely and completely. And being without has left me empty.



Now I have sat in judgment of myself several times over this, and have come to realize my only salvation is to apologize to the membership, and ask your forgiveness for my thoughtless and insensitive comment. I am ashamed.

Crossle Left Foot Braking

I'm looking to add the option to left foot brake on my Crossle 30F. As you know the steering shaft runs between Brake and Clutch pedals.



Can anyone share some photos of their Crossle left foot brake setups? I'm assuming I need to get a spare pedal to take the place of the clutch and weld it to the original brake pedal, then move over the clutch pedal/master cylinder to where the dead pedal is now?



Any guidance from people who have done this would be a help.

HPD Wiring Install Questions

I have a few questions regarding the installation of the Fit chassis loom.

First, regarding the fuel pump out lead - I assume that the lead goes through a momentary switch to ground. Is that correct?

Second, the ECU Diagnostic LED - assume that goes through the LED (maintaining proper polarity) to ground?

Lastly, we are using an external fuel pump. Can I replace the loom connector with terminals?

Engine Rebuilds

OK, so I am new to FV and have a couple of seasons under my belt. I am NOT a regional or national driver but rather a club racer at my local tracks. I shift at 5800 and have never seen my motor above 6100 RPM (missed a shift a time or two :eek:), run redline oil and change it regularly, adjust the valves before each race and all the normal maintenance that is required to run a FV.



With this information, about how many hours can I run my motor before it's time to rebuild it? What should I expect to pay to have a motor builder freshen it up for me?

Trying to get into F600

Hello everybody my name is Raphael Santos and I am looking to make the jump from sedans to Formula. I will be attending the FUNOFFS this weekend in Georgia and checking out a members f600 car in the area. I was wondering if you guys could give me a real number on the cost to run a F600 season as well as tips and advice. The game plan is to start in F600 and maybe eventually move to Formula Enterprise because I want to drive in a spec down force car.



I am looking at few racing schools and have pretty much decided on Bridgestone Driver Academy as they are relatively cheap and they train in FE cars. Unless you guys have a better idea I would love to hear it!

Lazer Rear Cowl with 3 piece moldu

For sale, Lazer rear cowl (lower section) with 3 piece mould. This unit was made using the mould.

The bodywork was never installed or fitted on a chassis. It probably needs light sanding before being painted. Both the bodywork and mould were made about 10 years ago and have moved from garages to garages. The mould has some damaged which is mostly what you see in the pic (bubbles burst).



$300 for both plus shipping from R3G2P3 Canada. I will wrap the bodywork and moulds in bubble wrap and place into a cardboard box.

Anyone connected that knows about the new motor coming out from Suzuki?



SUZUKI has taken arguably the best GSX-R1000 motor and put it in a softer, more rider-friendly chassis to create a category they are calling ‘Pure Sports.’ Meet the new Suzuki GSX-S1000F.

The bike, revealed at the Cologne Show today, uses a retuned version of the Suzuki GSX-R1000 motor used from 2005 to 2008. Most GSX-R fans reckon (including me) that was when the GSX-R1000 was renowned for its low-down torque and monstrous punch from the 999cc motor.

The motor is retuned for its intended new use with new cams, pistons, and a new radiator, along with new fuel injection system with three-way traction-control system selectable by the rider, from sport, road, and rain. Sadly, Suzuki aren’t releasing any power, torque or weight figures for the bike yet.



The bike is designed to be a rapid road bike with more comfort and distance covering ability than the GSX-R1000, much in the vein of the successful Kawasaki Z1000SX. It uses a fat tapered aluminium Renthal handlebar to provide an upright riding

Anyone have an opinion on aluminum calipers? I hear that a lot of Brits made the switch, years ago, then switched back as the calipers were not performing well. Anyone know about using them on a Formula Ford? I believe they are legal now, but I might be confused on that.

Hewland Mk5 layshaft w/ integral 1st gearset

Need a Mk5 layshaft for Mk8/9 conversion with integral 1st gearset in good condition. Gear ratio is not critically important.

Source for VD RF94 stub axles and suspension components?

I snapped the stub axle the wheel center lock bolts to on my Prince sports racer, which started life as a Van Diemen RF94 FC. Anyone have a suggestion where to find one?







I tried Pegasus and searched, but still haven't found a source yet.

More than just a race wee end, the North American Road Racing Association finals are a time for celebrating the drivers, families, crews, and sponsors that make our series possible. Having finals on the legendary surface that is Sebring International Raceway makes it even more special. When you think about the names, past and present, of those who have raced on the same concrete, you can't help but feel the energy.



If you have already registered, we thank you for your support and we are excited to see you in sunny Florida. For those of you who have not, we encourage you to join us for this great event.



We are pleased to announce that the first NARRA Prototype Challenge (USPC) will be held at SGI. Cars like Wolf GB08, Radicals, Stohrs, Pragas and DP02s are expected to be in the mix. This is a test for NARRA to provide these cars the type of environment that currently is non-existent in other series. One of the NARRA board members will be racing his own car in order to support this effort.



Friday, November 21st is your opportunity for a good amount of test and tune practice time. The sessions will revolve between USGT, USTT, USPC, and Aston Martin. The USGT and USTT will be combined into one run group for Friday only.



Friday night, we will be hosting a social cocktail hour in the hotel lounge and bar. After you are done for the day, head over to the Chateau Bar (on site at Sebring) around 6:30pm. Join your fellow NARRA members for bench racing and swapping stories. Terry Earwood always has some amazing race stories to share. We will provide some appetizers and the NARRA staff will be on hand to join in the fun.



Saturday is a double points race day. Your finish points are doubled towards the National Championship. This places tremendous importance on finishing well if you are in the hunt for a title. We will save the crowning of the National Champions for the banquet on Saturday night. Several special awards will also be given out, so please join us to celebrate the winners and have a good time. For those attending who are new to NARRA, welcome. You will get to know the NARRA family. The banquet will be held at the Chateau. Cocktails begin at 6:15pm at the Chateau Bar and dinner will be at 7pm in a separate room.



Sunday is a non-points race day. The format will be similar to a typical race day and trophies will be awarded for those races. If you are a TT driver interested in trying some wheel-to-wheel time in GT racing, this is a great time to try it. Let us know and we can talk with Terry (our Chief Steward) about that opportunity. This is "your day." Have fun and NARRA thanks you for your support and participation.
