Turning out an old workshop in the UK, I have come across a pair of unused Broadspeed aluminium rocker box covers suitable for the VW Type 4 engine fitted to some Super Vees in the early 1970s (see attached photo). A bit of research produced the following from someone who used to drive for Broadspeed:
“The castings are Rocker Covers for a Super Vee engine built by Broadspeed in 1973 specifically for a race at Daytona, the engines produced 165 bhp and were fastest in Practice but were deemed to be ‘outwith the spirit of the regulations’ and banned. The rocker covers were made in the USA not by Broadspeed, Ralph would never have gone to that expense.....”.
Someone with no connection to Super Vees is interested in buying the covers. However, in view of their history and direct relevance to Super Vees (see http://ift.tt/1D6RL5N, for example), there might be a more deserving Super Vee owner out there with a Broadspeed engine who would like a pair of the correct covers.
Any interest?
