I have been doing some basic research for some of my own business planning...
Cost of renting a “major east coast” track on a Monday, or Tuesday, or Wednesday, or Thursday:
Track available: 9 AM – 5PM
Base rent………………… $8,000.00
Security……………………… $720.00
-- manages staging and the gate for load in on Wednesday up to 3PM on Thursday
2 Ambulance………………………$1,500.00
– allows the track to stay green if there is a transport
1 Medical Dispatch……………… $300.00
1 Fire unit…………………………… $750.00
1 track control & corner workers for each station……$2,270.00
Radios and Comm. includes flags and tech…………… $450.00
Clean up fee……………………… $650.00
Roll-Back…………………………$750.00
Amount due track in advance………$15,390.00*
*and sportsfans…. That does not include the required liability insurance, workers comp, etc.
Prices about double on Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Roughly speaking to hold a "bare bones" event on a Wednesday one would need about $20,000.
You would need 80 paying folks just to get the cost down to $250 per. … on a Wednesday no less.
And, that would be assuming no costs for your organization’s officials, advertising, registration, tech, timing and scoring, copying of things like results waivers and such, yadda, yadda, yadda…
I can not imagine the cost of renting a Road Atlanta, WGI, or Elkhart Lake on a weekend much less Laguna Seca. :o
