Newbie tire question... Which tire..which group

I recently purchased a RF88 and want to get my feet wet in open wheel. I am not new to racing....I have been running SpecMiata. I live near Pittsburgh and looking for a series or more to run with...my problem is that I see a different tire for each group. I have little to no interest in a tire with a short life that racers are constantly rewarded buying stickers...been there..done that. I like the toyo idea because it is more familiar to me from my other racing experiences. The American Racer tire looks interesting because of its hardness but leaves you needing a rain tire. How many rims do I need and how many different setups do I need? In Specmiata , it has been tough with SCCA and NASA running 2 different tires which I believe has slowed down crossover. I truly believe the tire with less grip is easier on the sedan cars(wheel bearings), I do not know about FF. Any suggestions? Should I just pick one series ? Hate to do that.... What is the easier tire to deal with? Which lasts with heat cycle consitancy ? The groups I have seen are... SRvA ,FRCCA , and VRG.. I have little to no interest in SCCA with my type of car, got the SM for that.
