Toyo R888 questions

I tried out the Toyo R888s on my 98 Van Diemen/Ford last week at Thunderhill. Did 3 sessions in the afternoon. While progess was made on setup one factor eluded us and that is high center temps of the tires, mostly on the rear. Regardless of what pressures we ran the center ran about 20-30 degrees higher than the edges. The result was a dark stripe down the middle of the rear tire and a squirrly rear end of the car.

It was suggested this was because we are squeezing the tire onto rims narrower than the tire was designed for, pushing the center up. It was also suggested to run a bunch of camber to get the tire to use the center and inside edge, and ignore the outside edge, using temps as a guide. Seems a bit of a compromise but if it will settle the car down I'll try it. Or maybe I should try 185's front and rear.

Anyone have a similar experience?
